Hello from Dingle Ireland!
Enjoy the views to the left! I'm on Slea Head Drive here on the Dingle Peninsula recently.
In case we have not been writing to each other yet by email, or you may be a new member of MyIrelandBox excitedly awaiting your first delivery of Irish-made surprises, or just browsing our website for a gander!...maybe even you're a long-term MyIrelandBox member (we love you!) I just wanted to say a big hello (‘Dia Dhuit’ in Gaelic! ~ directly translated as ‘God with you’ and pronounced Dee-ah gwit) to you!
☘️ I also want to tell you (or remind you!) about MyIrelandBox and why I began, in 2013, to send a box full of Irish-made surprises, hand-picked by me, to people that loved Ireland and maybe missed it.
☘️ Well, it began really when I was expecting my first child, (now 9 years old!) and I was working as a lawyer here in Dingle. At the weekends, I met many people from the USA and Canada that were in Dingle town on vacation and who expressed how sad they were to be going home and how much they would miss Ireland.
It occurred to me that there must be so many people abroad that had Irish roots and that would just love to visit Ireland but for some reason or other, perhaps could not. So, I thought that it would be a lovely idea to bring Ireland to them. MyIrelandBox came to life and I began to send everyone that wanted one, a MyIrelandBox full of the Irish made products that I loved - books that would transport them to Ireland, Celtic jewelry that would put a smile on everyone's face, beautiful and useful Irish hand-made homewares made by our most talented craftspeople, Gaelic words and phrases to spread the joy of our language and so much more. I began writing a letter to everyone and I continue that every month (I have recently been writing up booklets with lots of recommendations, recipes, stories, etc and I love it (there is so much to write about!))
☘️ I love Ireland - I love our culture and traditions. It has become my happy mission to share it and I now feel that I have begun a game of 'joy ping pong' across the Atlantic Ocean. We bring joy to doorsteps in the USA and Canada and further afield and in turn, our members send joy back to us with their wonderful complimentary emails, Facebook Group comments and Trustpilot reviews.
I have made many new friends with our members and have even met some that have found themselves in Dingle over the years!
☘️ Why do I think that we are different from other gift box services that have sprung up in more recent times?
So much thought is put into each curation. We are steeped in Irish culture and tradition here on the Dingle Peninsula and I share what I know to be the true Ireland with our members. Whether it's a book written about the stories told in the local pubs here or a unique find in an Irish antique shop that reflects old Ireland, I never relax unless I am very happy that I have found something very unique that reflects my passion for Ireland. I listen also to what our loyal members love and as many have a sweet tooth - I am happy to devour tasty treats until I find the perfect one and include it from time to time! I wish to ensure that everyone receives surprises that are truly unique and reflect the true Ireland that I experience every day. I like to think of my business as a ‘boutique subscription box’ that has been loved by so many for quite a while now. 💚
We would love for you to join us to experience it and if you’re a member, why not think about sending a gift to someone that would love to experience Ireland coming up to Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Grá mór (big love!) from Dingle
