Louise from Impack Design - Achill Island, Co. Mayo
In Dublin recently we stumbled upon Louise's very cute and contemporary work. We just loved how she managed to take our national symbols and make them trendy and fitting for inclusion in today's homes. Louise has over 20years experience in this graphic design. She worked as a Senior Designer in leading Advertising and Design agencies in Liverpool and Dublin.
Louise was prompted to set up her own business after initially designing bespoke wedding stationery for family and friends. Through word-of-mouth, demand for unique invitations grew rapidly and then, Impact Design was born!
We were delighted to work with Louise for the St Patrick's Day MyIrelandBox! She says that your card may be framed or indeed, sent to someone who would love a little taste of Ireland.
The makers at Erin Knitwear specialise in hand-knitting and the business was set up in 1965 by Tom and Sally Lane. The company began by producing both traditional and fashionable Aran hand-knits and accessories for ladies, gents and children. All of their gorgeous products are hand knit using 100% wool.
Let us know how you wear your little sheep. We would love for you to post a photograph of your sheep corsage on Instagram or on Facebook and tag us (@myirelandbox)!
Splate - Maynooth, Co. Kildare
We bumped in to Bernie Everard recently and we were very happy that we did! She is a creator and her chosen material is slate. It’s heavy, rough around the edges and, as Bernie says, 'frustratingly non-uniform', but that’s what she loves about it. It’s a natural material, 500 million years in the making. Not quite perfect but perfectly beautiful. Bernie designs and crafts slate products in her family’s business premises in Co Kildare, Ireland. She advises that 'Mother Nature took her time to make our raw material. All our craftspeople have to do is coax out the unique beauty in each piece of slate - to find the diamond in the rough. The slate is cut by hand into the shape we need. It's a tricky process and requires a steady hand. It's here where we notice how different one piece of slate can be from another. It's a challenge but also part of the joy of working with a natural material.'
Bernie and her team collaborated with 'Doodle Art' to bring you this beautiful piece that depicts the Irish heritage, culture and landscape and combines this with ancient natural slate. We hope you love this piece as much as we do!
Wild Goose Studio - Knocknabohilly, Kinsale, Co. Cork
The Wild Goose Studio in Kinsale Co. Cork Ireland is a family run business that has been designing and making gifts to inspire the imagination since 1970. Together with leading Irish artists and craftspeople, Wild Goose has created a unique range of artefacts which combine heritage with the contemporary inspired by Irish myths, legends and history. We chose the Shamrock hanging decoration especially for St Patrick's Day and to be hung somewhere special to remind you of the Emerald Isle.
